Association for the Prevention of Torture (APT)
The Association for the Prevention of Torture was founded in 1977 by the Swiss banker and lawyer Jean-Jacques Gautier. The organisation´s work is built on the insight that torture and forms of ill-treatment happens behind closed doors, out of public view. APT therefore promotes transparency in all places where people are deprived of liberty.
The Human Security Division HSD of the Swiss MFA has maintained a strategic partnership with APT since 2012. The HSD supports APT with an annual core contribution as well as project funds. In this capacity, the HSD commissioned us to conduct an evaluation of APT´s 2016-2019 Strategic plan. The evaluation aimed to review the work of APT in the partnership in the implementation of the 2016-2019 Strategic Plan; and to inform the planning and implementation of the next strategic plan.
Our vision is to see a world in which civil society contributes actively, effectively and efficiently to achieve peaceful, democratic, green and fair communities. ODS therefore aims to help civil society organise in order to achieve greater impact. We do this through our four areas of practice: Organisational Development, Monitoring & Evaluation, Strategy and Toolkits & Facilitation
